Soaking in warm water can bring many health benefits. In fact, the word "spa" is an acronym in Latin "Salus per Aquam" which literally means "health water".

Ancient cultures, including the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans used the spas for therapy and relaxation. The Mohawk tribe in New York called local hot spring "Sarasota" which means "place of miraculous water on the rocks". In more recent times, the natural thermal waters have started to be a popular holiday destination for those seeking a change to healthier habits.
Spas and hot tubs have changed a lot since the days of soaking in natural mineral spas, but the reasons why today is so good looking remains the same. It is due to three simple principles that affect the body:

Hot

Not everyone knows about all the great benefits for the body when you spend a few minutes in hot water simergido a spa, spa or jacuzzi.
When your body absorbs heat, several subtle physiological processes occur. First, since the body is heated, it increases blood flow. The warm blood causes the blood vessels to dilate. Subsequently, blood pressure is reduced, often in just 20 minutes.
Also, the hot water also causes muscle relaxation as heat by ela own water placed in the muscles. Normally, the body tries to cool itself evaporating heat to the surface through the blood. Unlike a bathtub, a spa can maintain hot water temperature indefinitely. So while you bathe in a spa, the blood does not circulate at a reduced temperature within the body but becomes warmer than before, making the delivery of a therapeutic heat take effect in the body than other treatments.
Moreover, the sensitivity of the central nervous system is muted, since the body attention on heat gain focus, and this brings temporary relief of pain. This neurological effects can happen with any incremental increase or decrease in body temperature, but soaking in warm water is much nicer than any alternative.

Buoyancy

Even the strongest among us has much weight on the joints. Think of feet and ankles that support almost all the weight of the body, every day, all day. Other joints are constantly in motion: knees, elbows and wrists. Unfortunately, everyone has already experienced some sort of pain, or know someone who does.
When we sit in a spa, the natural buoyancy of water supports approximately 90% of our weight. This obviously reduces stress on the joints, giving them a little "dead time" of daily routine. The pressure is greatly reduced on the joints and muscles, while they are relaxing in a spa, hot tub or spa.

Hydrotherapy

Anyone who has used a spa is familiar with the relaxing effect of the aircraft themselves, and their obvious benefits. Streams, hot air mixed into the flow, provide a therapeutic massage and can be controlled, depending on how soft or intense you desire.
Hot tubs spas are equipped with nozzles of different sizes, pressures, quantities and configurations, all are designed to target specific body parts. Smaller groups of jets reach muscles in spots around the neck. Many water flows will focus on certain parts of the back. Larger jets sweep up and down the entire back, and right side of the spine. Tiny currents rotate around the wrists. Other flows will target calves, feet or arms. As a trained massager, water jets of a spa can soothe aching muscles anytime needed.

Medical Benefits

Visiting a spa can have a long lasting effect on one's health. There are many studies that show how.

Back pain

Participants in studies of using spa treatments experienced increased flexibility, reduced duration of pain and avoiding the use of painkillers and anti-inflammatory medications.

Weight loss and diabetes

We studied patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus using a whirlpool of about 30 minutes a day, six days a week. After 10 days, patients required reduced doses of insulin, lost weight, showed decreases blood glucose and benefited from better sleep and increased overall sense of wellbeing.

Arthritis

Regular sessions with hot water keep joints moving. It restores and preserves the strength and flexibility, and also protect joints from further damage. Exercise can also improve coordination, the strength of a person, and the ability to perform daily tasks, and can lead to a greater sense of self-worth and accomplishment.
A jacuzzi provides heat, massage and buoyancy which is so necessary for the well being of arthritis sufferers. The buoyancy of the water supports reduces stress on the joints and stimulates the freer movement. The exercises in water can even act as a resistance to help build muscle strength.

Health cardivascular

Soaking in a hot water simulates a gentle exercise. It increases heart rate but decrease blood pressure. In fact, participants in studies showed that those relaxed in spas had a decrease in blood pressure, than participants who exercised the increased bicycle. Regular use of spas and hot tubs gives some health benefits as exercise, but with less stress to the heart.

Sleep better

Some studies suggest that immersion in hot water (for example, a hot tub or spa) before retiring to bed can ease the transition into deeper sleep.
The body may go into a state of deep and relaxing the body temperature fall after going to bed sleep. Being in hot water about 90 minutes before bedtime triggers the internal thermostat to lower the temperature, and therefore induces sleep easily.
